AROKIA RAJIV IS HEADED TO TOKYO

SSPARK athlete and Indian sprinter, Arokia Rajiv is headed to Tokyo for the 2020 Summer Olympics set to begin from 23rd July 2021.

Arokia, along with teammates Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, and Noah Nirmal Tom clocked a time of 3.01.89 at the Indian Grand Prix 4 held in Patiala to qualify for the Men’s 4x400M Relay Race.

Arokia and Team India jumped from 15th to 13th in the Road to Olympics Rankings after improving their time from 3:02:61 in the heats of the National Inter-State Athletics Championships held in Patiala.

At the end of the 2020 Olympics qualification period, Team India is ranked 13th out of 16 and have qualified through automatic qualification. They join 15 other teams from around the world to compete in the Olympics.

Arokia is an Arjuna Award recipient and has won multiple medals at the Asian International level including a Gold in 4x400M Mixed Relay and a Silver in 4x400M Relay at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta. Competing in the Olympics has been a long-time dream for the quarter-miler, the qualification is another step in his glorious career.
